Set Up Google Notifier
Google Notifier is a Google tool that alerts you when you have new Gmail messages. It displays an icon
in your system tray to let you know if you have new Gmail messages or upcoming Google Calendar
events without having to open a web browser. Unfortunately, at this point in time, Gmail Notifier for
the PC only works with regular Gmail, and not Google Apps Gmail. However, if you install Google Talk
on your PC, it comes with its own email notifier which does work with both regular Gmail and Google
Apps Gmail.
To install Gmail Notifier on a MAC:
1. Visit the following website to download the application: http://toolbar.google.com/gmail-helper/notifier_windows.html.
2. Click on "DOWNLOAD GMAIL NOTIFIER."
3. Click "SAVE FILE."
4. The download icon for this application will appear on your desktop. Click on the icon to install.
5. An Open File popup window will appear. Click "RUN."
6. Click "I AGREE" if you agree to the license terms.
7. The Choose Components window should have all the necessary components checked, so click
"NEXT >"
8. Accept the default Install Location and click "NEXT >".
9. Accept the default Start Menu Folder and click "INSTALL."
10. You will see a notification that the installation is complete and the Google Account log in screen
will appear. Enter your Gmail User name and Password, then click "OK."
11. You will see a notification that the installation is complete. Click "CLOSE."
